How to easily clean and maintain the sink

10/18/2017

The kitchen sink, as well as that in the bathroom, like everything at home, also needs care and maintenance.

That's why today we have prepared some useful ideas and tricks to restore the glow of your sinks and keep them in good condition.

1. Clean the dirty sink.

You probably think the soap and water that pass through the sink are enough to clean it. Unfortunately, this is not enough. Soap deposits, food stains, rust, and lime from the water accumulate if you do not personally handle them. How often you should wipe the sink depends on how often it is used. Clean the sink in the bathroom after about 30 uses. A good recipe for sink cleaning is a dishwashing detergent added to a hot water bowl. Dip the sponge into the mixture and rub gently. If you want to do a more serious cleaning, try a universal cleaning spray or a non-abrasive detergent.

2. Return the porcelain glow to the sink.

Here's a trick that will return the porcelain shine to your sink. Glue the sink with paper napkins and soak them with bleach. Let the nappies sit for about 30 minutes, then throw them out and rinse the sink with running water. Do not use bleach if the porcelain is colored. In this case, you can try a soft liquid preparation, vinegar or bread baking soda.

3. Protect the sink from scratches and stains.

Replacing the kitchen sink is quite expensive. Once you've taken a new sink, try to keep it in good shape so you do not have to buy a new one. There are many tricks that you can use to keep it as new:

  • - Put a perforated plastic pad on the bottom of the sink. This will protect the surface of the sink from scratches and will protect your dishes.
  • - Do not allow fruit, vinegar, salad dressing or other acidic foods to remain on the surface of a porcelain sink. Long acting acids can cause stains and may damage the surface.
  • - Do not use abrasive powders to clean the sink. Instead, use warm water and dishwasher.

4. Clean the colored spots with lemon juice.

Here is a sure cure for stained sinks: clean the stains with a paste made of half a cup of borax and half a lemon juice. Dip a sponge into the mixture, rub and rinse with running water. Your sink will become a new one no matter what material it is.

5. Use vinegar to remove limestone.

The white spots that are formed on the taps and the metal sinks are very unpleasant. They can easily be removed with a "secret" ingredient ...: vinegar. Soak a napkin in vinegar and wrap it around the limestone spot. Wait 10 minutes and then polish with a dry cloth. Do not use this method to clean sinks made of brass or colored sinks.
